A Guardian ad litem(GAL) is an attorney appointed by the judge to represent a child in a court action.   The GAL’s job is to assist the Court in figuring out what is in the child’s best interest after a thorough investigation into the child’s situation.   The GAL interviews the child, the parties and collaterals; reviews court pleadings, school and medical records and any other records related to the child; and then presents a recommendation to the Court as to what she believes is in the child’s best interest.

Attorney Sheila Passenant has represented hundreds of children caught in the middle of high conflict cases as well as children who are victims of abuse and neglect.   She has the passion and experience to handle the most complex and challenging cases and has the respect of both the attorneys and the Judges with whom she has been working for over seventeen years.
