Attorney Lisa Marie Johnson is a mid-west native of Cleveland, Ohio. Lisa studied at Cleveland State University where she earned her Bachelors in social work with a focus on criminal justice and a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management.During her undergraduate and graduate studies, Lisa became actively involved in her community. She tutored at-risk urban students of all ages, she was a volunteer mentor with various community mentor programs, and attorney Johnson has volunteered and continues to volunteer, for many national and state political campaigns.
Lisa extended her studies overseas and attended the University of Savoie in Chambery, France where she studied International Law, European Trade, French and English Translation and European Culture.
She went even further in her cross-country experience by participating in the International Conference on Public Management and Development Administration hosted in Ghana, Africa.
She also facilitated a workshop that addressed urban infrastructure, intergovernmental issues and the need to promote economic growth and stability in urban communities. Ms. Johnson extended her studies at the largest and most diverse law school in the nation, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, in Lansing, Michigan. As a law student, Lisa was an honors scholarship recipient, was on the Dean’s List and awarded the blue book award in Law Office Management.
While in Lansing, Lisa worked for Legal Services of South Central Michigan as the Clinic Coordinator where she managed family law self-help clinics for six major counties in Michigan. She also supervised the intake screening division for new incoming clients.
After Lisa moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, she carried her love of community service to her new home. She volunteers at the Room In The Inn Homeless shelter by serving food to the homeless, talking to the guests and spending nights at the shelter and serving breakfast the next morning. She also volunteers at the Humane Society of Charlotte. Lisa remains politically active in her community and is the current Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals in her city.
Lisa is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, and The Mecklenburg County Bar Association. She is also President of The Charlotte Optimist Club and has been since 2014. Lisa also spends her time as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix since 2006, where she teaches Philosophy, Business Ethics, Business Law, Constitutional History and Political Science.
Ms. Johnson loves spending time with her son and two dogs Sophie and Chloe. For fun, Attorney Johnson loves to spend her free time in the gym, running, and mountain hiking. She has a love for amateur bodybuilding and fitness. She is also a volunteer coach for her city’s little league football cheerleading team.
